Looking For A Top-Quality 5-Page MLA Research Paper Example

The MLA formatting style is very specific on several fronts including margins, font size, spacing and the appearance of content on different segments, among other features. Samples make it easier for you to adhere to the strict rules demanded by this formatting style. However, not all samples available are of the best quality. Use of weak samples will affect the quality of your paper. How do you determine the quality of the sample in your possession?

General Formatting

The rules given in MLA formatting apply to academic work that is typed on the computer for printing on a standard A4 paper. A legit and legible font should be used. Such a font should provide clear identity of normal font and italics. The standard font size for MLA research paper format should be twelve points.

Only a single space should be left after a period, comma or any other punctuation. This should only change if your teacher or supervisor issues different instructions. The margins on all sides should be one inch. The first line of every paragraph should be indented half an inch on the left margin. It is recommended that you use a single tab instead of five ordinary spaces.

Page Numbering

All the pages of your paper should be numbered consecutively. The numbers should be placed on the header and on the right hand side. The number should be flushed with the right margin. In some cases, your supervisor or tutor may demand that numbering for the first page be omitted. These instructions should be noted and followed.

Italics are used for long book titles throughout the paper. This is done for emphasis purposes. This explains why the font used must provide a clear distinction between the normal font and italics.

Work Cited Page

End notes should be included on a separate page before the work cited. This page should be titled Notes with the title being centered and unformatted.

First Page

It is not mandatory to have a title page for your paper since all the details are provided on the running header. The first page captures your name, that of your instructor, name of the course, submission date and identification code if it exists. All this information should be double spaced.

Section headings change depending on the nature of your essay, book, journal, etc. Citation also differs based on whether it is individual resources or websites. In case you cite a website, you must include the date of access.
